Biddulph triathlete and 9-year-old deputy mayoress to swim length of English Channel for charity
A pair of dedicated Biddulph fundraisers are teaming up to swim the length of the English Channel for a great cause.
Local PT and triathlete Beth Eardley and 9-year-old deputy mayoress Harriet Perkin are taking on the Aspire Channel Swim challenge.
Starting on 5th December, the pair will be attempting to swim the distance of the English Channel - a whopping 22 miles - in their local pool over the course of the next 12 weeks.
Harriet picked Aspire as her chosen charity for the year after being appointed as Biddulph's deputy mayoress by her dad, deputy mayor Cllr Chris Perkin.
Aspire provide essential equipment, advice and housing for people with spinal cord injuries to allow them to live their lives independently.
We reported previously how Beth raised thousands for charity by cycling an incredible 18,000 miles - enough to get around the world - on her exercise bike at home.
To achieve that feat she needed to cycle an average of around 50 miles per day every single day of 2021.
The pair's fundraiser is currently live on JustGiving and they have currently raised an impressive total of £263 before the challenge has even begun.
