A new community fund created to help voluntary groups across the Staffordshire Moorlands has raised just over £1,500 after one of its advisors hosted a Cars and Coffee fundraising event at her home. On a scorching hot August Sunday morning Judy Scott-Moncrieff welcomed a unique cavalcade of exotic supercars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bugattis, Rolls Royces and rare military vehicles. Guests chatted about each other's cars, while enjoying a bacon butty and coffee.

Organiser and We Love The Moorlands patron Judy Scott-Moncrieff said: "For once I enjoyed being part of a traffic queue. One after another of beautiful cars roared in and wowed the guests. From beautiful Ferraris to rare military troop vehicles, it was an amazing morning of motoring and of course we raised over £1,500 for We Love The Moorlands which is the most important."

We Love The Moorlands is a new community fund which will provide small grants of up to £1,000 to a range of projects only in the Moorlands area. It will raise money by company and individual donations and fund-raising activities and then award grants twice a year. Local businesses such as Ornua and Hewitt & Carr are already on board and more are sought across Leek, Cheadle and Biddulph.

All money will be invested through a permanent endowment in line with charity commission guidelines. The interest and dividends earned on the money are then distributed by the Fund as small grants across the district. The beauty of this model is that it will provide a source of sustainable, permanent, and on-going funding that can be used for small grants, and larger grants as the fund grows, for many years to come.

Speaking at the event, Judy told guests about We Love The Moorlands. She said, "Our aim is to raise money from within the area, helping those closest to us. My rallying call is short and sweet, We Love The Moorlands is 'for the district, by the district' and I want us all to raise money for our local voluntary groups, to help those on our doorstep."
