Coronavirus weekly update: One month without Moorlands deaths, but cases continue steady increase

By Jack Lenton 8th Sep 2020

There have been no new Coronavirus deaths recorded in the Moorlands this week, marking the fourth week in a row with no deaths being recorded due to the virus in the district.

This is according to the Office for National Statistics, who release localised Coronavirus statistics in updated data each week.

The latest figures were released earlier today (Tuesday) for the week ending Friday, August 21st.

In fact, this week has also seen no Coronavirus deaths being recorded in the whole of North Staffordshire.

The figures mean that the number of people who have died from Coronavirus in the Moorlands remains at 79.

Of the 79 deaths, 55 have taken place in hospitals, 16 have occurred in care homes, three have occurred at home, with three at other communal establishments, one in a hospice, and one elsewhere.

However, the number of total Coronavirus cases that have been recorded in the local area has continued its steady increase.

As of Sunday, the Moorlands had 417 total recorded cases, an increase of 12 on the 405 total cases recorded in Biddulph Nub News's update last week.

In Staffordshire as a whole (excluding Stoke-on-Trent), there were a total of 4,237 recorded cases.

That represents an increase of 97 cases compared to the total of 4,140 cases in last week's update.
