Knitting lessons have been organised to take place in Biddulph Town Hall following the success of recent 'yarn bombing' events in the town.

We reported previously how Biddulph town centre was recently yarn-bombed, with knitted creations of all kinds brightening up the High Street.

Biddulph was also previously yarn-bombed as part of the town's Jubilee celebrations.

A growing trend all over the country, yarn bombing involves covering objects or structures in public places with decorative knitted or crotcheted material, as a form of street art.

Due to their success there will now be knitting lessons starting next week for anyone who wants to learn the skill and pick up a fun new hobby.

The first lesson starts on Tuesday from 6.30pm - 8pm.

Lessons will cost £5 and the money will be donated to charity.

Biddulph's current mayoress, Sue Garvey, said: "Following the success of the Biddulph Community Yarnbomb project outside the Town Hall, we've had a number of requests from local residents for lessons in knitting, crochet and macrame.

"We will therefore be running lessons at our weekly meet-up on Tuesdays, 6.30pm - 8pm at the Town Hall.

"Please do pop along to see us and book a lesson or two!

"Cost per lesson is £5, with the proceeds going to the Mayor's charities."
