People in Biddulph who have signed up as sponsors to the Homes for Ukraine scheme have been asked to join a new local hub that aims to support Ukrainian refugees and the families housing them.
We reported previously how a group of Biddulph residents are aiming to set up a "Biddulph Area Ukraine Support Hub" with the aim of offering help and advice for sponsors and refugees in the town who have come together via the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
Now the hub have asked people to come forward if they would like to join or volunteer.
A spokesperson for the hub said: "We are looking for sponsors that have signed up for the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
"[You can join the hub] whether you have found a family to sponsor, or if you are still looking or needing help.
"We are looking to set up a local hub for Ukrainian families and their hosts.
"If you would like to join us, volunteer, or want more information regarding the scheme, please get in touch."
The Homes for Ukraine scheme allows those fleeing the war in Ukraine to come to the UK if a British citizen has volunteered to provide them with accommodation.
We reported recently how so far, 40 households in the Staffordshire Moorlands have volunteered to provide accommodation for Ukrainian refugees.
Some of the topics that the hub will cover include:
- How to become a sponsor in the homes for Ukraine scheme
- How to find a family if you have signed up, but have not yet found a family to sponsor you
- Help with Visa applications
- Help with all the paperwork that is needed after your guest arrives
If you are interested in becoming part of the hub or would like more information or advice, email [email protected]
