Staffordshire Police have contacted Biddulph High School after being made aware of students setting up bike ramps and running over rooves at a disused Biddulph quarry.

The school shared the warning on social media last week to ask parents to inform their children of the dangers of the quarry.

They pointed out the presence of old gas canisters, oil and acid, and dilapidated structures as potential hazards.

A spokesperson for the high school said: "The Police have contacted us regarding students setting up bike ramps at the disused quarry on Hurst Road.

"They are putting themselves at high risk as there are old gas cannisters and oil and acid is present.

"The lakes are also contaminated with chemicals and the old workings are dilapidated and unsafe - some students are running over roofs of the buildings which is obviously a risk to their safety.

"Please speak to your child and warn them of the dangers!"

Biddulph Nub News reported previously how the quarry could soon be reopened again after plans to convert it into a residential development fell through.
