Staffordshire residents encouraged to stay active over lockdown
With England now being in the depths of a second national lockdown period, Staffordshire residents have been encouraged to stay active over the coming weeks.
A second national lockdown came into force on 5th November, with a call from the Government for people to stay at home.
However, there are a few exceptions, which includes exercise outdoors.
With this in mind, Dr Johnny McMahon, Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Health, Care and Wellbeing, has encouraged people to try and continue taking part in activities in order to maintain their wellbeing.
He said: "We know from earlier in this year that Staffordshire people are incredibly resilient. Lockdowns are not easy. We must do everything we can to look after each other and our own wellbeing.
"Focusing on the positives whilst following all the national rules is vital for all of us during the next month.
"We are blessed that we have some fantastic outdoor spaces in Staffordshire that we can all still enjoy.
"Our libraries are still offering a click and collect service plus online access for eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eComics.
"Many of our local business and farms are displaying fantastic adaptability - offering deliveries or a new online experience.
"Despite the challenges ahead, there is help and support which we can take advantage of and enjoy."
The new restrictions are less severe than those in March, for example schools and universities are open and this time, you can catch up with a friend in an outdoor public place as long as you socially distance and neither of you is self-isolating.
