A 16-year-old girl and a 40-year-old woman have been released on bail after they were detained following reports of an attack on Biddulph High Street.

The incident took place on Friday, 25th September, with police being called to the street having received reports that a woman had been assaulted in the area.

A 16-year-old girl from Rugeley was detained on suspicion of affray and a 40-year-old woman from Biddulph was arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident.

In an update today (Monday), police said the pair have now been bailed as they continue their investigation.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said on Friday: "We've arrested two people following reports of an assault on a woman in High Street, Biddulph earlier today.

A 16-year-old girl from Rugeley has been detained on suspicion of affray while 40-year-old woman from Biddulph has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

"Both remain in police custody."

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson added today: "The two individuals have been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue."
