Drone footage captured by Cheshire Police shows the scale of the fire that broke out on an area of wild land in Mow Cop this week.

We reported recently how fire crews were called to a large blaze that broke out in Mow Cop during record-breaking temperatures.

Six fire engines attended the incident on Tuesday afternoon, and fire crews were on the scene for almost 24 hours before the blaze was brought completely under control.

The remaining firefighters were finally able to pack up and leave the incident at 2pm yesterday afternoon.

In a final update a spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters have packed up and have now left this incident."

They also discussed the drone footage, adding: "Crews were on scene at the Mow Cop fire for nearly 24 hrs, working in intense heat and difficult conditions on very steep gradients to tackle the fire.

"Cheshire Police drone footage shows the scale of the fire, that's believed to have started accidentally."
