Praise for local girls who walked a marathon through Biddulph for deaf children's charity

A pair of local teenagers have been praised for their amazing fundraising efforts after walking a marathon through Biddulph to raise money for a deaf children's charity.
Poppy and Alyssa walked 26 miles in aid of the Stoke and North Staffordshire Deaf Children's Society, and raised an incredible £500 in the process.
The marathon was split into three parts, with the final part being a leg from Biddulph to McDonald's in Congleton for a well-earned meal at the end of their challenge.
The charity's chair, Justine Louise, said they were "extremely grateful" for the girls' efforts.
She said: "I'm the chairperson of a local charity - Stoke and North Staffordshire Deaf Children's Society.
"I would like to share an amazing story with you of two local teenagers, Poppy and Alyssa, who decided they wanted to make a difference and give something back.
"Poppy and Alyssa love walking their dogs together and wanted to set themselves a challenge for half term.
"They came up with the idea of walking the distance of a marathon to raise money for a charity and, having hugely benefited from the work of the SNSDCS as a family with two deaf children, it was a great opportunity to give something back.
"The marathon was broken down into three chunks, with the final day being a walk from Biddulph to McDonald's in Congleton for a well earned feast!
"The girls received huge support from the community and managed to raise £500.
"As a small charity we are extremely grateful for their kindness. Thank you Poppy and Alyssa, this will make a huge difference to lots of deaf children and their families."
