A Biddulph pub is looking for a new landlord after its current landlords announced they are leaving following eight months in the role.

Nub News reported back in November how The Royal Oak brought in new landlords, Simon and Marianne, with the pub undergoing a complete revamp and reopening, complete with bed and breakfast accommodation and a new paint job.

Before its reopening late last year, the pub on Biddulph High Street had stood empty for around three years.

However, the popular Biddulph drinking establishment will soon see another change after Simon and Marianne announced that they are looking for someone to take over their role.

The pair said: "With a whole heap of sadness but also joy, Marianne and I are announcing that we're looking to hand over the reigns of Landlord and Landlady of The Royal Oak.

"We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at the helm of The Oak and it's with a great amount of love and pride that we have called this place our home since it's rebirth in the winter of last year. We have made some amazing memories with you all and met some wonderful people we are privilege to now call our friends. We're ready to move on and find our next big adventure and it'll be lovely to enjoy the pub on the other side of the bar too!

"Thank you to everyone who has supported us since we opened, we are sure you will continue to support whoever takes over!

"The role of Landlord/Landlady will officially be advertised from tomorrow and we will announce our leaving dates in due course."

Residents have since wished the duo good luck on their future endeavours.

One commented: "Good luck with your new venture, you will be missed behind the bar."

Another added: "You got the pub off to a great start. Good luck for the future."

And a third said: "Sad news, but also wishing you luck with what happens next for you both. Had some great evenings in the Oak, thankyou."
